Julie and Brent met in Austin in 2006. She was getting her master’s degree at the University of Texas and he was working as a land developer. It seems likely they were introduced while watching the Longhorns win the National Championship at Tobin and Neal’s house, but that’s open to debate, everyone was understandably preoccupied that night. What they do remember is Julie wishing Brent a very happy birthday during a concert at Stubb’s on January 25. They continued to run in to each other over the next few months, most notably at a roller disco party thrown by Brent and his friends, where Julie had a blast and broke her elbow.
That fall, Julie and Brent ended up on a double date masterminded by his roommate Billy. Soon they were inseparable. They went to festivals and concerts, explored the city on photo safaris, hiked in the Greenbelt with Brent’s dog Josey, hosted epic Jenga parties and listened to music for hours on end.
Unfortunately life got in the way a few times. Brent moved to Houston, Julie moved to Silicon Valley and then LA. But even with the ups and downs and thousands of miles between them, they always ended up turning to each other.
By the beginning of 2013, Brent was once again in Austin. He convinced Julie to come back so they could figure out this relationship thing once and for all. A testament to Brent’s endless patience, that was the third time he’d made some variation of the drive between Texas and California. A little older and a lot wiser, they built an amazing life together in the city where they fell in love.

Brent proposed on May 31, 2014 at the end of an epic 6-mile hike in the Greenbelt. She asked him multiple times if he was serious, all while sporting the biggest smile he had ever seen. They can’t wait to make it official on September 19, 2015.
